Title: Rise and Fall
Medium: Wood, acrylic Size: 14”x14” This is a wall relief. Its’ theme is used to parody our society. Like a game, societies have structure. The winners are often those most closely aligned with society’s expectations. The outcome is always the same. Inevitable power and control to further design the game for good, and sometimes for bad. The pieces that were considered off cuts when constructing this game are being shown to rise up in opposition and in doing so, are creating a “new game”. (Notice that the players, once positioned comfortably in their homes, have been upset and are rolling towards the offcut that is the apparent lead member of this unrest). And of course this societal game is never-ending; just redesigned and played out. 2015 (private collection) |
