Biography

Fran Usher was born in Holland, and immigrated to Canada at a very young age.  She attended the Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours programme at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada,  majoring in Sculpture and Painting.  Along with a Teacher's degree also from Queen's,  she taught visual art at the high school level in Ontario for a number of years.  In 1986, she established her role as a professional artist for hire with her business "The Drawing Room".  As the name implies;  ideas, materials, and clients all come together with the artist, to work through the needs of whatever artistic endeavor  or commercial project  one might conceive of.  Experienced in many areas, Fran often finds the range of project types as exciting as the ideas that individuals bring to each of the commissions.  This translates into a very rewarding and challenging existence for Fran.  Enjoying this life with her, is her family, making the house of Usher a great launching point for much of this work.  Located in a little village in north Whitby, the studio is quite central to Toronto.  Please feel free to contact The Drawing Room for a visit.
